Type Specimen Screen Mood board
I created a simple mood board on Milanote of type specimen posters I came across online. I found these particular posters impressive for multiple reasons, such as, their compositions and the sizing of the letters used. I like the blown up numbers and letters and how they are layered on top of each other at times. This mood board helped me to visualise what I want my specimen screen to look like and how I might position my letters.
Pinterest and Dribble research
I took to Pinterest and Dribble to get more inspiration for my type specimen screen.
I chose this as one of my inspiration pieces because I like how the text isn’t just vertical, its positioned in different angles. I think I could take this influence and experiment with the text and its placement.
I was searching on Dribble for more inspiration and I came across this example were the letters are spaced out and in different areas on the page. What I found interesting about this poster is that even though they aren’t in the regular order you can still make out the word – Helvetica.
This was an image I put into my mood board and I really liked how in this particular poster all of the letters are overlapping and with the opacity of the letters it adds a really nice effect. I think the colour palette here is really complementary and each letter colour works well together.
