This week I began animating the beginning half of my animatic. I was again surprised by how much the preproduction benefitted my animation process. During animating, I switched some of the timings, allowing a longer more suspenseful stand up. I also made time for weight and realism to be implemented.

I also ended up adjusting the main guys height. As to make it less obvious and intrusive that his proportions were changing. Instead allowing for a more subliminal surprise. Striking the balance in terms of natural animation and viewer shock ended up being very difficult in that regard. Although I like to think the time and thought payed off.

Harry Greg also added hair to the character design of this character in his sketches.

This additional hair really helps to differentiate him and make him creepier. It also makes his sillouhette more defined, and adds to his memorability.  My main worry at the moment is the third shot. I fear that in motion there will be too much going on at once for the audience to take it in. I’ll have to experiment with this in the coming weeks.   Im also not entirely sure how we as a group are going to tackle colour and lighting yet.
