IXD302 – week 2 – Draft 1 of my CV

I already had a previous CV that I’ve used to apply for volunteering positions in the past, and so I used parts of this such as previous education and experience in my new design-job CV.

WHAT DO I NEED IN MY CV?

  • contact details (email, phone number)
  • bio (short, detailing your interest in IXD, and your likes and dislikes)
  • skills (in relation to IXD)
  • work experience (keep it short if not relevant but talk about how it helped with communication and time management)
  • education (keep GCSEs short, A levels too, list what you learned in degree sofar)
  • awards and achievements
  • references

PLANNING MY CV CONTENT:

I wrote out my content before drawing out my CV so I could better understand the sizing for various sections.

BRAINSTORMING LAYOUTS:

I iterated as many various layouts for my CV as possible.  I wanted to make use of my brand within my CV in the right way, and because my font choice is a bit out there/ could be perceived as in your face, I decided to go with something more understated in the end.  I also wanted to make use of my iconography throughout, and I was aware this was risky as it might cause visual noise.

SKETCHING IT OUT IN DETAIL:

This is my final CV layout structure, I’m pleased with it and feel it will display my information succinctly and not overwhelm the viewer despite my brand being made use of throughout.

FINALISED CV:

I created it using Adobe Illustrator
