Kyle Tezaks work stood out to me because I loved how he used simple geometric shapes to create beautiful designs and iconography.
Renewable energy
Despite the iconography being very heavily minimalist and reliant completely on regular shapes he managed to create icons which were instantly recognisable as the objects he was trying to represent. I strive to do this in my own work this semester.
All illustrations are created on a 9×9 grid as shown above. He wanted to use a simple framework that he could lean on to establish unity across all the illustrations. This is something i must do in my own icon designs. I like the extensive usage of triangles in these works. They create a pattern throughout the icons and proved to be really useful in creating the wide range of shapes involved in renewable energy structures. The placement of the shapes in these icons is very clever. For example the two circles layered behind the solar icons is supposed to represent the sun – i like the consistency of this. I feel that the composition of these icons are so well thought out that some could very easily be used as posters
