This week the first part of our brief was, “Design characters for your world – fill 2-4 pages of different character design ideas or if you’re focused on just one or two characters then fill the pages with different iterations on the same character – consider expressions and different poses as exploration into your designs, or even different styles if you’re trying to find a style that suits your work.”;
So I created a weather penguin called Pengy. The weather penguins have control over some basic weather types like rain, snow and thunder.

Hair/ Fur Colour: Blue
Face Shape: Round, cute, and cuddly
Distinguishing Features: Clouds have formed different parts of their body. Children with clouds are very visible whereas adult clouds are more dominant. Only the royal family have a greater mass of clouds which can be seen by their mane like clouds around their neck.
Mannerisms: Usually it’s quite easy to see how these characters are thinking and feeling from their mannerisms as they overemphasis their feelings.
Favourite Saying: Happiness is void without cuddles (needs work)
Sound of Voice: Cute
Walking style: Usually waddling or sliding. But when using their powers they can float/ hover and fly.

Characters Greatest Flaw: Yet to be seen?
Characters Best Quality: He is super friendly to everyone he meets though very shy at first meetings, as well as protective of his company (friends and family) and rarely gets angry unless people start pushing and breaking his buttons.

Educational Background: Went to a public school and not home school as he wanted to live as friends among his future people. He did very well in school studies getting lots of praise from the teachers but also hate from his classmates. He graduated from school with flying colours and with a loyal group of friends that now advise him on political rulings of Freezardia.
Intelligence Level: Similar to normal penguins their intelligence levels are very high but with the addition of being able to interact and speak other languages and the power to control some types of weather these penguins are even smarter still.
Character Life Goals: To be happy
How does the Character deal with:
- Sadness
Pengy likes to be alone and listens to music when he’s sad.
- Anger
When Pengy is angry (very rarely) he goes into an uncontrollable rage that only his friends can break him out of.
- Change
Pengy can handle change over time but struggles with instant change.
- Loss
Pengy struggles heavily with loss thinking it’s always his fault even if that’s impossible.
I believe that I had a clear grasp on the brief this week and was able to complete it to the best of my ability. If I had more time I could’ve designed outfits for the penguins along with more unique poses.
