Overall, I am happy with what I have made. I think I generally did a good job with building my character, I think I’m taking to the technical aspects of blender quite well. I went from having a very loose idea on how I would go about creating a character with good topology, and no idea how to pose one. Now, I feel like I could make many more- and more complex- characters.
Speaking on complexity, that is one thing that I think I would have done differently if I were to go back. I feel as though, although I like her face and am generally happy with her head, I would have liked to have done something more elaborate with her body and specifically her outfit. I think I would have made her dress less plain, but by the time I realised I wasn’t satisfied with her, I felt like I would be undoing too much progress if I were to go back.
I’m pleased with the fact that I will be getting my work in on time for this assignment. I have issues with deadlines, but I pushed myself with some- very- late nights, and am happy to say it’s paying off. Hopefully I can keep myself from falling behind from now on. I’ve gained access to a laptop at home so I can do work when I want to, which has also massively helped with making progress.
I am still very much enjoying the 3D modelling side of this year’s courses. I find myself looking forward to just sitting down and working in blender and Substance Painter, which is still something I find surprising, as I thought the 2D and more drawing focused elements would be my favourite! I’m nervous to go into even further detail with things like bones, and learning more complex skills in the future, but I’m becoming more and more sure I will like it the same!
