Run!
The run I think was one of my favourites to do out of this assignment. I mainly used the Preston Blair run cycle reference for this along with video reference, doing the same as with the walk cycle in blocking out the key poses and then adjusting from there. While I was working on the posing for this cycle, I had the keyframes very spaced out, so it was easier to see every little movement the character made when I watched it through. I had some issues getting the arms to look natural for a while, and ended up completely redoing them after spending some time adjusting my first attempt, but the second pass worked out quite well right out the gate. Something that slowed me down quite a bit with my run was not realising you could copy keyframes and paste them flipped, so I manually typed out all of my keyframe coordinates by hand to make sure the cycle was mirrored. This was just silly on my part, I should have known there was an easier way, but it worked out in the end. It didn’t help that all of my coordinates were about 6 digits long though!
I accidentally sent my slower version to Alec for him to look over when he was reviewing our cycles, but was quite pleased when he said all I needed to do was bring the legs in somewhat as in certain frames they were stretched out a little too far and to speed the run up. I fixed these issues and fixed the leg extensions and am very happy with the result.
Unfortunately, I had already started using the version of my run before adjusting in my run and jump, so I had to make the changes in both files. Thankfully after doing them in my run cycle, it was easy to change in my run and jump as I had already figured out all of the steps to take.
