Interacting Design

For interactive design we had to get into groups of 4-6 to create a design based on 4 prompts we had to choose from a hat. Our group got the prompts – Man, Security, Simulation and Microphone. We had to think of ways to think of ways of combining these things together to create a design that would be useful and effective. After discussing our ideas we decided on creating an app for protection and safety when at concerts we decided to call it Safe Show. The way the app would work is by traffic light system buttons on the homepage. The red button would be used for when you’re in danger. By pressing it four times an alert and your location would be sent to the nearest security guard so they could be able to come find you when in danger. The amber button is to be pressed when you’re unsure of something or you see any suspicious activity going on. The green button is for when you are out of danger and no longer need any help. The app also has a fake phone call button with scripted questions and answers. I like how this design turned out and I had fun working together in my group and coming up with the ideas for the app. I also enjoyed creating the logo for the app which is an owl, I think the colours and design worked well together and I thought choosing an owl for the icon was a good idea as owls can symbolise protection and security which is the main theme of the app.

2D/Digital Design

On the first day of this workshop we had to create 48 quick sketches from a list of words associated with graphic design. On the second day we then had to choose 12 of our designs and had to digitally draw them on the computer using Figma. I found this easy to complete and I had fun coming up with the different designs. Overall I think my digital drawings turned out okay but i think they could have turned out better if I didn’t spend so much time trying to figure out how to use certain things on Figma.
