Through-out the time I spent on the course, I found this module quite informative and enjoyable to complete. I had previous experience with animation in a previous course but I feel as though I only began understanding things better through the exercises we completed on this module. I am overall not very happy with the […]

Animatics & Secondary Actions
For this week’s class, we focussed on creating animatics. We were first shown an animatic from a previous year’s assignment to show us what we were expected to produce. I found this extremely helpful as I was unsure how much animation was needed for the animatic, watching this previous animatic helped me plan out how […]
Character
This week we learnt about the long awaited topic ; Character. In class we discussed the main aspects of what makes a good design, a good design should be something that evokes an emotion from the viewer. Tone/Value
This week, most people moved groups but due to how few were in the demon group, I remained where I was. The topic for this week’s class was “Tone/Value”. We learnt how both tone and value can change how we perceive forms and depth in an image and how we can use these ourselves. We […]
Secondary Action Practice
For this week’s class, we mainly focussed on furthering our understanding of secondary action and continuing our animations (rough). We were given two exercises to complete; adding secondary action to our flour sacks animations and adding colour to it. After completing the exercises, I continued working on my animation part.

For this week’s class, we went “back to basics” and completed a starter exercise that would warm us up and help improve our comfortability and confidence when drawing. I did this exercise traditionally in my sketchbook first and then repeated again at home digitally to compare the difference in the stability of line work. I […]
World Building
After the Icebreaker activity, we all remained in our groups and began the next task, which was to come up with 100 ideas for a world. I unfortunately had to leave early but thankfully my group kept me up to date via Discord. While we didn’t quite reach 100, we managed to get 80 world […]
Storyboarding & Animating with forms
For this week’s class, we covered the storyboarding basics and two more animation principles; staging and anticipation. Staging is very important when animating as it is used to ensure that every action is understood and clear. There are a few different areas of staging that you need to understand when setting up a scene. The […]
