Character design (Shapes)

This class we had to create characters with random shapes.

Shape can help define characters and personalities.

mood-board:

It is helpful to study other character designs from media when creating a character of your own.  This helps to give inspiration and helps with the shaping.  I am creating a witch character, so,  I researched other witch character e.g characters from little witch academia and wandering witch the journey of Elaina. Furthermore, it is good to create a design that will appeal the target audience.

I did some quick character designs for group 4 concept of the college time-loop. The theme is steampunk and witches, so I made design based on one a character designed by someone originally from this group.

When picking colours is best to keep it very simple.  It is best to have three base colours and one contrasting tone. These colours shouldn’t be jarring.

Week 4- Colour

This week we had to add colours onto our objects from the group project that we drew last week, using the colours we plan on using for the animation.

The colours chosen for this projects were purples, browns and golds.  For this project we’ll be using a darker value and less saturated versions of these colours. This is to reflect a darker tone and mood of the story.

Week-3

This week we did environment  drawings for our group projects. We had to use depth and tone in this environments, we also had to draw an object from the story. (greyscale)

This week I have changed groups so my object needed to be something from my new group project.  My object is a pocket watch.  My old project was the other images.

For homework we had to take the environments we did and add colour to it.

We had to colour in a image given to use to create mood with colour.
