Assignment 2 Reflection
Beginning this project I was really interested and excited. I started the year knowing the basics of Blender but no modelling. So after doing the first few assignments, learning more about how to use Blender, the Adobe software, and starting to learn modelling I was feeling good going into this. I also had bought my own Wacom tablet which made working from home a lot easier. I had a lot of issues with the retopology, I had too many separate parts (hair, hat, jacket) which made it tricky to get the faces to stick to the mesh. It also caused some clipping issues when posing. I think for later projects having simpler parts, or having the parts be simpler, will help. Although I did get help from Mike and others about how to make it less difficult, such as using the Decimate modifier.
With more time I would have put more details into the prop. I’m happy with the book and how it looks in posing, but I don’t think the texture’s applied properly. I also would have liked to add more smaller details like a bookmark, but I wanted to get the model submitted before adding unnecessary details.
I also should have kept up with the blogs. I didn’t do them weekly which was not ideal. It’s something I shouldn’t have left so late.
I am happy with how the model looks overall though. I think the clothes and hair look nice and I think I learned a lot both from the lectures and from others in the course. I’m really happy with what I learned this semester and I’m looking forward to learning more next year
