Character Design Class Work

This week in class we were learning about how basic shapes can be used to visually convey aspects of a characters personality, square characters being more strong and stoic, circular character being more innocent and child friendly, triangular character being more sinister, clever or fast. We were given a sheet of random blobs and shapes and told to use those to make characters from. I found this fun but a little hard, some shapes were way easier to make designs from then others.

Next we had to redraw three famous celebrities (Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Orson Welles) with our own designs from their shapes. I had some trouble with this one, coming up with the ideas was harder for me this time and I’m not very happy with the end results. I definelty need more practice with drawing these types of figures.
