This week in class we showed our pitch presentation to the rest of the class and got feedback from Henri and Mike regarding our previs. After our presentation I typed out the feedback into our discord group for anyone who wasn’t in for the presentation. Zoe put herself forward for adding these changes to the previs.
I started unwrapping and painting on the textures for my jars that I had made during previous weeks. Some of the jars were harder to unwrap than others, however I was able to successfully unwrap them after testing out different seam placements. For the textures I decided to try out the texture painting tool in Blender again, initially I struggled with using it the first time around but after spending some time using the brushes I found that it was quite simple to use and suited my painting style better. I mostly focused on adding the shine to the jars and then made the painted material look more ‘glassy’ by editing the Alpha options within the material window.
I also started making a three tiered cake to sit in the background of the animation and started texturing it. I wanted a separate material for the sponge and through trial and error discovered that when creating a new material I could add a new ‘layer’ to the texture painting by creating a new image texture within the material node. This didn’t work the first time but this was because I forgot to assign the material to the sponge parts of the cake. This also allowed me to add a glossy effect to the icing without affecting the whole model. I wanted to experiment with different colours for the cake, to do this I saved the painted textures as images and then imported them into my drawing software, from there I shifted the hue, saturation and brightness of the colours until I found something that I was happy with. I showed the rest of my group the models and they seemed happy with the results.
While our group was looking over the background that Ingrid had made they were struggling with ideas for how the final bakery should look. As I enjoy designing backgrounds I put myself forward to focus on the main design. We wanted to include a wallpaper, to do this I felt it was best to unwrap the back wall, export the uv layout and then draw a design over the top of the uv’s which seemed to work well when putting it back into Blender. I also started adding props into the bakery
