Animated Horror

In week 8 in class we were taught about ‘Animated Horror’ where I learnt more in depth about the styles of animated horror and a little more about what animated horror was in animation.

5 Underrated Animated Horror Movies

Where I also managed to learn a little more about the art styles as paintings inspired by the styles of horror animation, as the arts of the artist ‘F Goya’ with paintings a little disturbing that let well informed the style of horror to the public exaggerating in sambaras, depths, dark colours and contrasts very striking. And also with one of the artists who caught my attention with their style and way of expressing themselves in their works. I really liked the artist ‘Z Beksinski’ where he shows a very different style and terror with his paintings and more emotion on paint.

Animation Horror & Videos:

In research I found some short animation and short clips of animations with the horror style. In the researches it was well complicated in got to understand more on ‘ what it was the horror animation genre’ but with some researches I got to understand a little more. In this way in research in some (website) where it did not speak clearly on what it was the animation horror but it explained with an easiness the horror style and with other animation styles.

Sites of animation Horror:

“The Midnight Story is a 1957 American CinemaScope film noir crime film directed by Joseph Pevney and starring Tony Curtis, Marisa Pavan and Gilbert Roland”

“Coraline is a 2009 American stop-motion animated dark fantasy horror film written and directed by Henry Selick and based on Neil Gaiman’s novella of the same name.”

“Animated short film by Erik Rosenlund. Nominated for a Palme d’Or for best short film at the Cannes film festival in 2007. Pencil on paper animation composited in After Effects”

With this new topic about “Animation Horror “I could understand much more how the horror style worked also watching some videos that explained a little more of a way of filming with movies that are not in 3d or 2d animation but I could understand with and work the part of composition and framing that also applies in animations.

In the researches I started to be interested much more in this styles of animation horror genres where I already had a small passion in the genre, my favourite films in this compilation that are of Tim Burton as the films, Corpse Brise, Frankenweenie and 9 films with the animation horror styles.
