For the TADF (Textile Art, Design and Fashion) workshops, we were tasked with creating a mood board that would inspire and develop our creative practices for this part of the module. I decided to create a physical mood board as I wanted to add fabrics and embroidered designs I had created. The theme was ‘Layers,’ my ideas stemmed from 70s styled layered clothing.
It was important to select a colour pallet that represented the 70s bit also that the colours worked well with each other. Black and white were essential colours. I picked blue, yellow, orange and pink.
I included pattern by gathering online imagery and fabrics. I wanted to include retro patterns from that decade, and the quirky but fun fashion sense.
For this I wanted to capture how some of my designs may feel. I embroidered textual circular designs that could be used to create a potential outcome.
For these videos I wanted them to be up close and personal, to display the beauty and emotion of the eye.
I applied mascara onto my eyes and then rubbed it off, I wanted to represent the tuff beauty standards we as people can face. And how ones self can be their own worst critic.
I used this same approach when applying lipstick to my lips.
I attached red clear paper onto my camera to make a red tint. The red represented the negativity the beauty industry can have on young people.
