Weaving
For this workshop we were tasked with created a weaving piece by using different sources of materials or fabrics. I used plastic bags, lace and fabrics thick and thin.
Creating a Loom
The first step was to create a loom and weave my fabrics through. I did this by wrapping string around card and securing it at the back. It was important that the string wasn’t wrapped too tight as this would cause the card to bend, or too lightly as the weave would fall apart.
Weaving Fabric
When weaving its important to weave the fabric through the opposite way round to the first piece and make sure to skip a string at a time.
I tired to best use colours that represented my previous work and mood board. Once I had removed the weave from the card board I tied pieces of string together and then cleaned up the edges by removing the excess fabrics.
The Result
I ending up loving my weave. I would try this technique again it was so fun.
