When it came to this assignment i started with my CV as i thought it would be the most beneficial order for me to do my work in, so then that the easiest part was simply uploading my portfolio later on.
CV
I had never produced my own CV before this assignment as I worked independently when I was a teenager to very young adult, this assignment was something i struggled with at initially and found quite daunting. During our lecture with Rachel on creating an industry standard portfolio I looked at a lot of the examples she was demonstrating to the class and doing my best to replicate it. When creating my CV I needed to showcase a bit of my personality by inputting my profile as a illustration of me and using a lot of brighter colours that still felt muted enough, so it wasn’t to much for the eye to digest or look at.
Portfolio
For my Portfolio i wanted it to be professional, while also showcasing my personal interests and what got me into art in the first place which was superheros and comics in general. In order for me to keep it professional though I needed to showcase my wide range of workflows and styles that I can adapt to that range from concept work to stylised realism and Pixar inspired works too. This is what I believe makes my work more appealing and differentiates me from competitors. It may have a theme but I’m also not afraid to throw in some of my work that’s from other projects and is in a style that’s very different from my usual work.
When it came to the actual content and media of my portfolio i wanted to make sure my name was front and centre and repeated throughout, to be easily remembered and then next most importantly to have my showreel on display as this is the best reflection of my Animation work and will make it easier once again to be remembered.
When I was putting my portfolio together, I looked at ones that I thought were my personal strongest pieces that displays that adapting qualities I have and the showcase of the many types of work I’ve done. So, for my portfolio i displayed my 2D walk cycles, character animations and character designs as those are my strongest attributes and forms of work I produce.

Cover letter
Cover letters are something which i have far less experience in, so i familiarised myself by gathering examples. https://www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-advice/cvs-and-cover-letters/cover-letters/sample-cover-letter
I looked at the format and structure of a cover letter from this website as referenced above. The website states that cover letter isn’t there to repeat your CV, but rather it’s a chance to focus on your experiences and your skills as artist. So, I kept it really simple and focused on expressing my overall focus for the company and showcasing my desire to work for the company I’ve applied for such as stating, “I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my skills and qualifications align with your company’s needs and objectives.” Company’s want people that want to work for them, they want people that are passionate about their work while showcasing their individual desire to work for the company.
