In week 1 we’re inducted about our module “Animation Strategies”. We also had some practice with Toon Boom, getting used to the new software program.
In week 2 we learned about walk cycles and tried making some in 2D and 3D spaces.
We played around with premade 3D models and practiced making a walk cycle.
Our homework was to finish up our walk cycles in Toon Boom and add some secondary animations.
This was the first time using Toon Boom and I learned that I don’t need to make a keyframe when making the next pose, otherwise it can cause the previous frame to be altered.
Making the walk cycle reference:
I faced an issue where the paint tool won’t paint the arms and legs in some keyframes. I realised that I have to seal in the gaps of the drawing in order for it to work. This was very tedious as I had to check constantly if I correctly sealed the gaps but most of the time I had to overlap the lines just to get the paint tool to work.
