This week in class I followed the teacher Mike and his process of making a milkshake. At first, I thought this would be an easy project but later found that it was most definitely not. I made my cup a bit longer than Mike’s so it looked more like an iced coffee because… I love iced coffee. This process wasn’t difficult, It was the opaqueness of the cup that bothered me. I couldn’t get the right alpha setting so that I could see the liquid clearly and it bothers me.

The straw also caused me a lot of hassle, I actually made it several times before I was satisfied. I had somehow made several faces on top of each other and now I know that pressing escape does not undo, it will still keep an extra face.

(Old straw)

I think the straw was the most stressful part of this project but I am happy with it.

The flower had me a bit angry. I hadn’t a clue why my splines were not moving the way I wanted them to, now I know that you have to grab the spline while proportional editing is on. I am happy with the flower but not thrilled, it looks a bit raggedy and I think that is because I am not too sure how the subdivision modifier really does… Other than the subdivision modifier bothering me I had a few problems with the lighting and where to place the light as the renders are very dark.
