This week we began to learn how rigs work and were set different tasks on what objects to rig.
I started off with three cubes, making them go at different speeds. this task reminded me a lot of the work we did in 2d animation and I loved how much faster I could get it done using blender instead of krita. The use of graphs was really interesting and I enjoyed playing around with different shapes to see how the final animation turned out.
Next, I worked on different types of balls bouncing, to seen how the speed and weight would be accomplished through graphs. It was challenging but in a good way, I could see the effectiveness of the graph and how important it was to get it right for the weight and scale of the object. I enjoyed playing with the scale and bringing the principals of animation into my 3D work as I haven’t done any type of animation like this in the past.
for the second half of the day I had to make a pendulum swing back and forth, it was actually really fun to do. Alec showed us how to use parenting points to make a smooth curling effect with the object.
This weeks classwork was super helpful and enjoyable and helped me see how far I can take it in the future. I learned how to export an animation properly and how to add shadows to make the animation more effective
