this week I decided to get started on my final animation as the deadline comes closer and closer.

This meant I needed to focus on backgrounds and my animatics. In the group, backgrounds were agreed and an overall hallway was designed briefly on a whiteboard.

Nicole designed a long hallway where a chunk of the animation would take place so I took this Information and began to change angles. I used my perspective drawing from week 2 to think about vanishing points and horizons for this.

I changed the angles to fit my storyboard, the entrance to the underground tunnel is visible in the background as well as portraits of Walt Disney on the walls. The angles are very important so that people can still understand where the character is so it is important that they looked similar but obvious that it was filmed from a different angle.

The colour of the hallway and the majority of the backgrounds are a deep blue to reflect the sad hard times the people are facing, I used deep sad blues to convey this.

I began my final animation on the first scene of the sister pulling the injured rebel down the hallway. I originally drew it in 12fps and unfortunately realized it was supposed to be in 24fps.

it was a difficult process and with time think ill improve on the smoothness but this is my first time animating so I’m pretty satisfied at the moment.

before adding colour I moved on to the next clip to make sure I finish it all in time. Instead of animating it with only my animating as I go, I realized I needed to make another animatic with 24fps so that I wouldn’t be stressed and not know how to fill the frames like the first time.

I made this quickly to know what would go in each frame. I wasn’t too confident in my skills when it came to drawing hands especially cause this clip is just a hand so I researched hands drawn in a style I would love to perfect.

I found this reference on Pinterest and began to practice my hand in the same style as I love the traditional Disney Pixar plus it fit the whole theme of our animation.

I finished this clip and would like to add shading to the hand but for now, it will do. I asked my group how to achieve a smoother final product and they advised me to make my drawings closer together in each frame so that it wasn’t so jumpy. I am a lot happier with how this one ended up than my first clip because I had pre-planned each frame.

I’ve started on my third part of the animation and made a very quick animatic, it’s very rough but it will help eventually with the overall final product. I decided to change the positioning of the hand to be in front of the gun unlike how it was in my animatic to show more of what I learned about drawing hands.

The animation is still very fast-moving as a lot is happening in only one second so I’m working on fixing that.

It’s a very slow process and not the most enjoyable one but I’m looking forward to completing my first-ever 2D animation.
