I started my character design with simple sketches, using poses I had personally done through photographs, I was apprehensive about animating realistic characters. I began to draw outfit inspirations but still wasn’t settled on what to draw and contribute.
I tried using what I learned in class about body shapes and drew a few different body types. A curvy woman an overweight man and a fit healthy man. I still didn’t draw faces as its not my strong point.
I wanted to incorporate my own style and seeing as I love Pixar so much I wanted to try drawing something from that.
I came up with a design for the old man in our story, based on mike breaking bad but instead of a helper, he was the evil Walt. I really liked the form of this character and it reminded me of the project we have for our 3D class but unfortunately, it isn’t the design the group was looking for as they wanted a more heavy and weighted man which makes a lot of sense
I then made these two designs, the brother and the sister. I really enjoyed this process and figured out my style a lot through this. I used the same colour scheme which I remembered was not what I was supposed to do.
I researched how ponchos move through animation, understanding that it was a difficult process but the group decided it was better for the future animation because wed have less limb movement to worry about.
