Alvin Lustig

Alvin Lustig was a famous American graphic designer focusing his skills towards book design and typography design throughout his career, although Lustig was renowned for his work in graphic design and visual arts he initially studied as an architect but quickly converted to graphic design as he had a passion for colour and typography.[2] Born in 1915, Alvin Lustig had accomplished so much throughout his short life until he had unfortunately passed away at a young age of 40 due to diabetes related illnesses that he had developed throughout his younger years, the illness had pretty much rendered Lustig completely blind come 1954 until he died just one year later in 1955.[1]

Lustig was renowned for his work on book covers and designing books across his career and is often still considered to be one the fathers of the modern paperback book and a pioneer of graphic design in book publications over the years, in addition to his work on book design Lustig was also inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Paul Rand and was one of the initial founding fathers of the design program based at the Yale University campus in the USA.[2]
