Character design

Firstly in this week we were tasked with designing characters based around shapes, and how differently shaped characters give off different vibes, here is my designs.

Begining the Character design task I was in the Magical Academia group and later on moved to the 1920’s supernatural group so I have a few different design concepts.

I admittedly am not the most confident drawer, especially when it comes to character design and drawing so I used a lot of reference images to help me on my way to learn how to maybe draw characters better.

Here is some of my ideas,

Colour study 2

The next part of learning colour schemes came with a task I really enjoyed.

Firstly we were given a blank line work of a landscape and asked to give it colour scheme to show how we would expect it to look in a real world setting and here is how i imagined the scene to look.

After this we were asked to take a scene from a movie with a vastly different colour scheme and use it to colour the landscape. For this I took a shot from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseĀ and took the colour scheme and transfered it to the landscape to give it a twilight, fantasy feeling, very different from the original colouring I chose.

This task showed me how important colour is in artwork and animation and how it can totally chance the tone of a peice.

In week 4 we were learning about colour and colour schemes. the first task I did was taking some of the tonal sketches i completed from the week before and adding a fitting colour scheme to further develop the tone and atmosphere of the world we were developing.

Tone studies

After joining a new group, the Magical Academia group, we were tasked with coming up with tonal studies and adding details into some scenes we imagined in the world we were designing. in a group we discussed ideas and researched other similar set properties like Animal crossing and Harry Potter. here is some of the pieces i came up with.
