Prior to this assignment I’d had no experience sculpting in 3D, but having enjoyed using clay in the past I was quite excited to see what could be achieved (and how well I could achieve it).
My first attempt at organic modelling came with an in-class exercise wherein we followed Henry’s tutorial to make a cute and simple alien in Blender, using three spheres as a base.
I enjoyed this little task once I started to get the hang of it. I may have deviated from the ‘cute and simple’ aspects of the project a little but I found it a good chance to explore some of Blender’s sculpting tools.
It reminds me of a creature from Doctor Who S8 Ep5 called the Teller, looking back on it.
I attempted, too, to sculpt this apple in my own time (as recommended on Blackboard) to middling results- but I was still learning as I went a long and found it a valuable exercise.
