For this project we were split into groups of four – myself, Anna, Lee, and Niamh – in order to create a presentation that analyzed our provided short film, which was Seoro Oh’s ‘Afternoon Class’.

To begin our research compilation, we all went to watch the short film before creating a word document and beginning to compile any information that we could find either online, from reading, or just from the short film itself. In addition to this we also created a small discord server with just the four of us in order to share links to the google document and the google slides presentation – and most of our conversation in regards to the assignment was carried out there.

From here, Niamh kicked off our research by adding all of the information she’d acquired to our word document, and the rest of us followed by adding information anywhere that wasn’t touched on as well as adding our own information under headings that had significant amounts of research already.

Linked below is the google doc with our raw information before we decided what to cut down. In the end some headings had information we just didn’t use, or we went a different route altogether.

After this we began the task of creating a google slides power-point and beginning to transfer information over – focusing on the four pillars of animation : Camera, Sound, Editing, and Narrative.

I decided to take two images from the short film and edit them together for our title slide:

(The first and second images put together created the third).

Then, with the presentation on one screen and the short film on the other – began to colour pick from the animation itself to dictate the background colours for each of our slides.
