Following our Pre-Production presentation we were given some feedback. Namely that we should push the horror elements of our film further, develop the friendship of Valerie and Meredith and the jumps in time should be clearer. Following this we got into adding in new shots, redoing old shots and rewriting what we could. Due to the fact we did not want our film to have any spoken dialogue having clear shot composition and character acting was very important. We have done multiple new drafts of the animatic, that development can be seen below.
This created a good framework for our film going forward, but still left some room for improvement with some editing or insert shots.
Around this time Ellie and I were also working on the poster for the film. It was difficult to find inspiration as many other vampire movie posters were too campy for the tone we wanted. The concepts I did focussed on bold red blood and pure black shadows. I really liked the idea of the poster being primarily red, black and white. Below are some concepts I designed.
I developed my favourites ideas afterwards.
The poster I like the most would definitely be the first one as I find it the most striking, while also best communicating what the film is about. Ellie had also done a batch of concepts, one of which took the idea of Valerie being surrounded by blood and artwork, but did so much better than I did. We were extremely happy with this one and decided it would be the film’s poster.
