In class we were shown examples of Pre-Viz for animated films . Pre-viz uses basic shapes, animation and camera movements paired with audio to plan and serve as a guideline for 3D animation. Pre-Viz is added to as shots are developed creating an increasingly detailed visualisation of the final product as well as helping to spot issues with the scene. Rudimentary Pre-Viz shots will help fill the space of the scenes that have not yet been animated.
I volunteered to make the animatic for our short which is done before Pre-Viz, however, as I was still working on a previous project the Pre-Viz was started before the animatic was completed. This resulted in some timing issues that became the main topic of conversation in group meetings as we discussed where we could afford to cut down the short without disrupting the flow and telling a complete story.
