Assignment 2 for animated narrative is to develop and animate a 3D short. Nature was the prompt to develop our ideas around.
My group film would centre around two swordfish fighting for the love of a reluctant pufferfish who threatens to inflate. The theme expressed is that affection cannot be won.
This story felt very old fashioned so I looked to 1930-1940 cartoons for inspiration. Popey became my main inspiration. There are many Popey cartoons that centre around Popey ad Brutis fighting over Olive Oil.
Bellow is the inspiration /reference board and character designs I drew in old fashioned animation style.
I created these titles and credits for the working and final title. We settled on Plenty Of Fish. I noticed a lot of old animations use multiple types of typography on one card. I used the adobe library to collect possible fonts that I then placed on top of backgrounds illustrated by my teammate Mark Smith.
After consulting with my group I created this work schedule to keep us on track.
