Below is a series of screenshots that show my process of using substance painter to apply texture to a pre-made model. This exercise helped me get accustomed to substance painters’ interface and understand how to layer textures and masks using layer mode. Textures were placed using fill layers with black masks. This meant the texture would only be applied to an area of my choosing. I toggled the hight and normal options on the wood until I was happy with the depth it created. It was important to name layers to avoid confusion. The first screenshot was from my self-study using tutorials uploaded by a lecturer. The second was following along with an in-class demonstration.
After transferring my textures into substance painter I used the IPR viewport to see how my textures affected the model. Lights had to be set up for the Arnold render to be seen.
