Maya Milkshake and Sword

In today’s class, we modelled a milkshake cup and straw. The milkshake was made out of a cylinder and sphere with a series of extrusions. The straw was a cylinder made to conform to a path made by the curve tool.

I based this sword off of this image from Google. I created a free image plane in Maya then layered a transparent plane on top. I traced over the image below on the transparent plane with the multi-cut tool to shape the blade. I connected all the vertexes on the blade to form proper quads and extruded the face. The hilt of the sword was made from basic cylinders and spheres.

I found this great tutorial for making basic leather straps in Maya. I like how offsetting and manipulating the straps add natural elements giving the sword more personality. When I completed the model I exported it as an FBX and moved on to Substance Painter.

I followed this Youtube tutorial below to make the blood splatter on the blade.
