I first created the background for shot 1 using the Portrait created by Cloe Malard-Fowler. Then used Photoshops perspective warp tool to make the low-angle perspective in shot 2.

originally this was meant to be a stagnant transition shot but I added the zoom In Devinchi resolve using the Inspector tools. As the camera zooms out of the Portrait revealing the walls and tapestries the viewer gets a sense of stability that indicated this place (The magic school) has existed before this moment.

This is a ruff test I made in adobe animate to explore the Headmistresses expressions and timing. This test revealed to me that I need to plan movements and expressions better in my animatics. The shot was just supposed to be the headmistress clenching her fits in a powerful stance but I added more action to fill time.
A lecturer that I showed my ruff pass to, advised me to leave more spaces in between actions so key poses and expressions are easier to read. The final animation is far clear than the ruff pass but I still need to keep practising my timing in general.
I used the slow in slow out to create a natural-looking hand movement
Actions that move in an arc shape appear more dynamic and natural.
I was as economic as possible with this animation by copying the drawing of the previous frame and adjusting it with the select and free transform tool in photoshop where possible, then I redrew the new expressions and hands.
In my test animation, I had the Headmistress drop and catch her staff to convey her confidence. I tried to do this in the final animation but was taking too long to figure out the timing. The important action of clenching her fist had already been completed so I cut the movement to save time and meet the deadline.
