Blue toned greys contrast dry orange grass. I experimented with painting depth into the picture by replacing the river with a canyon.

Dramatic and scary
There were no big changes to the world this week we just continued making art for the established setting. With my illustration, I designed a village built around a mountain after it was destroyed.
The sails of the boat in this sketch imply the wind is blowing in the opposite direction of the boat. I did some research in sailboats to help the action make sense.
I’m still not happy with the finished illustration and asked my lectures for some guidance. One Lecturer suggested that I should convert the illustration to Black and white to understand the relationship of its tones.
The grayscale clearly showed the lack of contrast between tones that flatten the image and the high contrast intensity of the pink sky that’s more neon than id like it to be. For future illustrations, I can use grayscale to check my tonal values.
My colour Script was inspired by these lighting guides made for Frozen
This assignment has really exposed my weakness in colour theory so I really wanted to take my time to understand and create a quality piece but I was frustrated with how long I was taking. This video advised that slowing down and understanding will pay off in the long term and not to get as easily frustrated with myself.
