I began creating the body of my Mother Nature sculpture out of clay then I added this body to a plastic bottle I cut in half, to give the sculpture some support and structure. I then wrapped some ‘Christmas wire’ which is wire wrapped in a brown material which looks like wood, giving it a nature feel, around the plastic bottle sticking it with hot glue. I cut out the plastic bottle in the areas I hadn’t wrapped the wire so I could still have a little hint of my initial double helix bottom. I then decided to add some fake moss to make it look even more like it is from a natural environment. I also rolled out two snakes of modelling clay and wrapped them in opposing ways around a paint brush. When they had dried, I wrapped one in the other and hot glued them to the top of the body where the neck would be then added some light layers of watered down modelling clay. I wanted the body to stand out from the earthy tone the modling clay had naturally so I brushed it over with 4 layers of gold pigment.
