For our Game Design unit, we were given the task of trying to think of an addition to the board game Battleship.
My version is called Battleship: Space Battle. This I felt gives it a more updated and modern feel to have the battle placed in a 3D space while still on a 2D grid. I have also swapped out the ships for spaceships.
I have chosen 2 additions to implement into the gameplay.
BigBoy Bomb
Each player receives one BigBoy Bomb, which you can use once per game.If 2 consecutive choices you make result in a miss, you can activate your BigBoy Bomb, which allows you to hit all targets along a column or to hit in a 3×3 square, dealing damage to anything in these areas and taking out all enemy ships that are hit.
The Radar
The Radar tool is activated once the enemy has taken down one of your ships, it can be used once per game. This allows you to find out the location of one of the enemy ships but only after they have taken down one of your ships.
