Art direction is described as being something that gives creation or ideas meaning, even elevating them. Art direction takes aspects from both art and design, to achieve a particular emotion and convey the right message. It influences the media around us and almost everything we interact with such as advertisements, magazines, music and apps. The design aspect is more of technical application of expression. For example, working with the right colour palette, ensuring the colours compliment each other as a-posed to what the colours represent. Art director Phil Coffman describes design as being about the execution while art direction is about the strategy behind the execution.
