NPC Noble

Character Style

For the NPC character I continued to look at character designs from Cris Tales and LoliRock to try keep the style as the Protagonist character style.

So for the body I measured the height of the protagonist to get the height I want for the NPC and created a body. I’m a bit unsure of the body but it will do right now to get idea for the outfits.

Clothing

I found a range of different outfits and character designs that look noble or wealthy. Some characters are from the ‘Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ game as it has a lot of noble characters that I thought would be a good reference point of the Noble NPC design.

For this outfit I wanted something that would work in a fantasy world and shows off a suave annoying type personality. I really like outfits 1 and 2 but they are too Fire Emblem. Outfit 3 is the best choice as it something I can see a really annoying young male wear to be centre of attention.

Hairstyles

With hairstyle I needed something that could look good stylized but the usual noble type hair is too flat so a bit of a wild look might be needed, and that’s what I found in option 7. Below 7 is a version of a extra stylized look trying to add cowlicks to match the look of the Protagonist’s hair.

Full Body

So with the outfit and hair picked out I created the full body look which I have to say go pretty well together. The face however needs a little work. But the overall look is something I definitely like.

The colour digital version looks awesome. I went for a colour theme that would complement the red, and remembered that red and blue always seems to be two colours that are together. So I went with a blue theme. I also added in purple as it is a colour of wealth and royality, so it fits the theme of the character quite well. The overall look of the character gives off an ice theme which is pretty nice as the Protagonist does give off a fire theme.

However when I put the two together something was just wrong.

I don’t know why I didn’t see it before hand but the two designs don’t fit! The NPC is a bit too bulky and the face just isn’t working. Loving the hair though. So I redid the design a bit to get a better styled version to suit the Protagonist character design.

In this version I made the character’s body slimmer and added a cape and coat tails. I think these extra features add into the noble theme better than with the without version. I think the new version works so much better now and I did change the hair a little, it doesn’t have the light blue highlights which I can’t figure out work or not.

Here are the two versions side by side and yes I do think that the left one is definitely the version to go for but the right one’s hair does stand out more and I should have kept it.
