Innovation

The idea of innovation is seen as adaptaing or evolving an already existing concept to make it better, more effective or more efficient, though it’s more than just physical aspects when it comes to innovation, something can have new ideas, values or methods of doing things and yet, at its core, remain what it originally was. When it comes to animation innovation is probably one of the main aspects animators strive for when performing their craft, as they’d need to make their animations not only look original, but stylised and distinct enough to appeal to a wide audience, many animators do this by simply having distinct art styles and designs to their animations, but really talented animators innovate by using various animation methods as well as styles to not only give their animation a distinct look, but a particular experience the viewer can enjoy,

A particularly recent movie to show this type of innovation, and one of my particular all time favourites, would be the 2019 movie, Spider-Man: Into the spider verse, the team behind into the spiderverse managed to give the movie a distinct feel that makes it stand out among other current animated films at the time, one such way they did this was, rather than simply animating in 24 frames per second and creating a new image each frame, they instead animated each frame “on twos”, this, simply put, meant that each frame that was drawn lasted one frame longer than usual, giving the movie a more static feel, though some may see this as a downside, the team made it work by giving the characters much more pronounced poses and movements, the movie wasn’t animate entirely in twos however, in particular scenes, such as more action originated scenes, they were animated in ones, this makes the shots look a lot more fluid and satisfying to watch.
