Here is my process of today’s task to complete the album for graphic design class.

I decided to get loads of articles cut out from two magazines, focusing on the negative articles to get the message I wanted on the album cover.
I cut out the paper pieces I needed for the template to later on soak the articles in the PVA glue and put them on. After that I gave both of the pieces a light coat of black watercolour to darken them so they would act more like a background rather than a foreground.

I later on edited some pictures I wanted to use for the cover of the album in different sizes to find the perfect fit.
When I chose which one to use I filled the lines with some Indian ink to create a thicker line art and also drew on blood running down from the TV screen with some Crimson Gouache.
I was very pleased with the result of it and decided to go with it.
When everything dried I used a hobby knife to make some sharp cuts around the images to get a paper cutout look to it.

I decided to play around with paper cut outs for the letter on the album design, I wanted one of the lines from the lyrics to be done in this sort of style.
I wanted it to be whole words, but after searching through the magazines at least 4 times I decided to create the words that I couldn’t find with different letters, fonts and colours from the magazines.
Here is them drying on a piece of white paper.
I also took letters to write the song name that was initially going to be on the cover, but it would be too much so I decided not to use it.

For the image on the vinyl disc I took some headlines I never used and put them together to make an image with despair, as I would like to call it.
I first played with the idea of a plastic film over it, but since the plastic film didn’t want to stick to the paper with the PVA glue I had, I sadly had to scrap the idea. Instead I removed the plastic and it turned out even better.

I have so far enjoyed this task a lot. Since I’m able to properly express myself and my thoughts & ideas for this project.
