Assignment 2: Creative Futures
For my end of year show, I created a logo, CV, business cards and a poster to advertise my movie trailer. I also updated my showreel, removing some of my older work to put in work from this year. I have kept trailer and personal branding materials separate as I feel it is very restricting and I would prefer something more personalised that will last longer.
Logo
When previously designing my logo, I was overthinking it too much and it looked more complex than it should. Henry suggested that instead of creating my logo in 3D, I could make a 2D logo that looked 3D. After lots of trial and error, I settled on this as my final logo design.

I’m far happier with this as it looks neater and shows clearly that my interest is in 3D.
Business Cards
My business card design is shaped like a box. The only changes made to this were to remove the old logo and add in my up-to-date one and to darken the colour of the sides of the box to show more contrast, as per Henry’s advise on my previous submission.

I included two of my favourite animations from this year in and updated my start and end card to include my new logo and zbrush, as that is something I have now experience using.
CV
Poster
Going off my previous ideas, I combined some of my favourites to create the final design I was happy with. Henry mentioned that the title being lower was more impactful and so I placed it over the hole in the dome rather than it being slightly above. He also said that my typeface didn’t fit well and that I should also try a more dynamic pose for my characters.

This was the final result of these changes. I am really happy with the result and think it conveys the message of my story well. The characters are looking towards the hole in the dome as though it is their goal to reach the outside. The typeface I used is called Bad Signal which I think fits very well with the look of the rest of the poster. The colour is the same as the characters hair as I thought it was a nice balance, and by making the top text slightly darker, I feel that it made it look more appealing and interesting.
End of year display
Physical display:

For my physical display, I used leaves and a brick textured wall paper to match the theme of my project. I also made a head model of my beast character, the main characters weapon and a holder for my business cards out of clay.

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this and so I have created digital mock up of my display design:

The poster is displayed at the top left. The images on the right showcase renders of my city, and the lower images are some of my favourite rendered shots. The summary plot reads:
“Set in a future where harsh measures were taken to prevent the spread of dangerous lifeforms. A whole city sacrificed for the greater good. Two people come together to escape this dome they have been held captive in, but this won’t be easy.”
Beside the monitor, sitting on the table, I would have my design deck.

Promotional Strategies & Career Direction
I acquired the domain name samanthasavage.co.uk which is currently linked to my blog. This is a very good and memorable name, and I am in the process of setting up a website to link it to and showcase my work on. It will also have a link to my Instagram account where I upload work.
