Out of the words nature, naked, non-binary, neon, neutral and number. I chose nature as I love the outdoors and natural forms found there, patterns and textures are prominent in all aspects of nature often leaving me mesmerised in their complexity. I first researched what the word ‘nature’ means, it is described as being the the collective term for the physical world including plants, landscapes, animals and other features of the earth in opposition to manmade artefacts, or as a word to define core personality or features of a person or thing. My interpretation of ‘nature’ is living organisms and our natural environment, I made a quick mind-map of my initial thoughts about nature. To decide on my four colours I looked through nature books in my house, after seeing many colour combinations I decided on green, brown, white and purple, green and brown will be the focus of my project, inspired by trees and leaves, with a pop of purple.
To create my mood-board I compiled an array of items from around my house that were green, brown, white and purple/red, I wanted it to feel organic. I used crumpled brown paper and white tissue paper as it showed texture, reminding me of tree bark, sprigs of rosemary from my garden, pressed flowers, dried leaves from my grandmother, a chestnut, twigs, brown toned beaded bracelets and scrap card. I also included paint swatches of my chosen colours, the Oxford languages dictionary definition of nature and a brief reasoning for my choice.
