Overall, I think this project turned out quite well. I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get some more work done, a few of the animations were cut because of time constraints. I think if I had better time management and worked longer hours, I might have been able to get it done. The work that was finished was quite good in my opinion, I’m proud that I was able to animate the monster character despite the unfamiliar anatomy. If I did this project again, I’d try harder to stick to a solid schedule. I also think my communication with the rest of the group was lacking, I spoke up when I wasn’t sure about something, but I think the group could’ve benefitted from more regular meetings. We didn’t have meetings that often because a lot of group members had jobs and other responsibilities which made it hard to schedule, and as a result people were often unsure about what they were supposed to be doing (at least in the early stages). Looking back I should have messaged the groupchat more often and checked the Miro board more often. Another flaw in my work was that I uploaded my work to Google Drive rather than Github. Sophie had made a shared Google Drive for our work early on, but later made a Github also. I was unfamiliar with the site, and I was too nervous to sign up to it due to my anxiety about Internet privacy. I need to work harder on overcoming my paranoia because it shouldn’t interfere with my work so much.
Most of my teammates made excellent work too, I was impressed with Neave’s animations and character designs. Sophie was a good team leader, she made sure to answer any questions I had and she was active in our group chat. The majority of the team were great and added a lot to the project, and I’m impressed with everyone’s hard work. When we were getting feedback on the game from classmates, we got a lot of positive feedback about the visuals. People liked the mix of 2D and 3D, so based on other people’s assessment I think we succeeded in the art department.
