Week 9 – Design a World

Since I finished my storyboard last week, this week I took the next step towards animating and turned it into an animatic.

I focused on showing the character frozen in fear, extending the shot of her looking forward and being cornered. I added more frames to the shots of her being grabbed and pulled away, to show her movement.

I also added sound effects to show the atmosphere I want. I found a few online, but couldn’t find a good sound for the cultists, so I recorded one myself. I wanted it to be a low, raspy groaning sound – something that doesn’t sound like a traditional ghost or monster, but not like a human either. I based it off the sound from “The Grudge”, but less exaggerated. I also added a sound for when she’s grabbed (to give the character more weight or substance), and some horror ambience (to make the scene feel less empty).

Once my part was done, I edited it together with the other group members’ parts to get the full animatic. A few members didn’t have their parts finished yet, but I put together all the parts we had.

I think my part fits in fairly well, but I’ll have a better idea once all the parts are finished.
