This week my team started to think about our next assignment; a short animation sequence. Each of us will animate a few seconds, then our animation will transition into the next person’s animation.
The first step was to decide which section of the story we would animate. We chose the ending, as we had already thought of a few interesting shots we could animate (like a cult member slowly standing up from the corner of the room and towering over the protagonist).
After choosing which part of the story to animate, we wrote out a very rough script and decided which group member would do each part.
Establishing the context of the scene, introduce the girl – Cathair
Girl encounters one cultist, slow reveal, then starts running down hallway – Matthew
She runs to a room to try and escape, but looks up and sees that it’s full of more cultists – Jessica
She’s grabbed by them and dragged to the centre of the room – EJ
She sees one of them sitting by the corner, he stands up and towers over her – Cain
We see him pull out a knife and grab her, she screams but we only hear an eerie noise – Harry
Once that was decided on, we sketched out rough storyboards. This allowed us to compare ideas, then edit our storyboards so they’ll flow together nicely.
I sketched out my part, and in the following week I’ll be refining it into a cleaner storyboard.
