For this workshop we focused on the landscape of the skyline surrounding the building. We started off doing a quick sketch in whatever media we wanted to try, I decided to work with black pen and then go back in to it with some pink pen. I think the end result looks cool. We then had had to do the skyline with charcoal and try and make some tones, using only the side of the stick of charcoal. I found this very difficult as I haven’t used charcoal much but the end result was very interesting. We then went on to do a tonal sketch with watercolour, I found this very difficult to do as I struggled to make tones with the watercolour as the colours just kept bleeding into each-other, I then worked into it again with pen to try to add in more details. The last task we had to do was to do another watercolour piece with very limited colours. I decided to use red and yellow as I thought they would have worked well together, it has proven me otherwise.
I really enjoyed this workshop and I have learnt a lot more about how to build up tones.
