Week 8 Etching Printing

This was my first go at etching a plate and it was quite different from anything I’ve done before process wise, I loved the end result on its own I thinks its nicely balanced. In preparation I had simplified the image, I wanted thicker lines and built them up on the chair and gravy boat, adding thin line texture instead of block tone for the liquid pouring out of it which inked really well as I made sure to polish them. The process was enjoyable once I got the hang of it, especially the intaglio method of inking I find it more adjustable since I had mostly white with fine line I polished my plate well to get nice clear prints which came out really well. I took four prints of this first etching but used two for practising the tone using indian ink in my sketchbook.
