Study
I enjoyed working in the fine art department, because I had the opportunity to experiment more with various types of mark making.
Charcoal studies
It was interesting for me to work in charcoal because I could work faster and create more depth and shading than with pencil or pen. With charcoal, it’s more about light/dark than precision.
Watercolour paintings
When I work with black/white, I give a sense of movement to the objects, whether it be with pencil, charcoal and paint. With the use of colour, I became more aware of how I use space and create perspective. I explore different ways of mark making and with different compositions.
Acrylic paintings
Working in acrylic allowed me to achieve a greater depth of colour and I found myself experimenting even more with shape and form. There is a texture and design effect that plays a role in my work and I liked to try out different perspectives. I liked using bolder colours with acrylics.
