To begin this dyeing process, I gathered some white cotton from my fabric stash and cut it into three roughly equal sized pieces, I thought by making them similar it would be best to compare their outcomes.

I then firstly got an avocado skin and lightly boiled it on medium heat for quite a while until I saw a noticeable change in the colour of the water. once I put the water into the jar with the fabric sample, I then let it sit overnight.
I then tried turmeric to make the fabric sample a bright yellow colour. to the mixture, I added paprika, thinking this would turn it a more orange colour but this was not the case.
after this was boiled the suitable amount of time I sieved this mixture using fabric to filet a sieve and pure it into the jar, then placed in the fabric sample for an overnight soak.
I also used beetroot in the same way. I left these jars to steep overnight and looked at them the next morning.

After drying, this is how the fabric samples turned out. from left to right there is turmeric, avocado and beetroot. I wish to do more of these but at the minute don’t have enough ingredients for these as I am isolating. whenever I get spinach I shall do more

This is the fabric samples compared to the original piece of fabric, this really shows the range of differences that has been made for each of the processes completed.
