When I first started the pattern challenge I wasn’t excited about it, I thought it would be a very tedious exercise and that I would run out of ideas very quickly, but it actually wasn’t the bad and I think I found some good patterns to use.
In my first pattern series I wanted to cut an A4 white page diagonally and then take a picture each time it was cut. I like the spacing it gave the pattern and the perpendicular lines.
For the next series I got the strips of paper used from the diagonal lines series and arranged them in a messy fashion, I like the way the different strips of paper gathered together in this.
In the next series I got a few rectangles of paper and put them together, I then took a picture after each time I moved one. I like the uniformity of the shapes in this series.
In the next one I got one of the paper rectangles and cut it in different shapes, I wanted it to look like the paper was a shattered plate being broken. I thought this one was particularly interesting.
I then got the random shapes made from the last series and arranged them in different shapes and amounts.
For the last one I got two clumps of cut paper and put them at opposite ends of the frame, I then created a pile in the middle by taking a picture each time I moved another piece into the middle space.
