Crystal Wager is an American artist working with paper to create site-specific sculptures. she uses vibrant colours in her work to compliment her expanding installation work.
Wager drives a hybrid approach to her work in that she uses printmaking and combines it with sculpture- making what is primarily a 2d medium into large 3d installations. She focuses on texture, surface, colour and dimension which brings her work to life.
I like Crystal Wager’s work and feel it compliments my work well mainly because she thinks outside the box to create her pieces. when she prints it is not only because she wants a pretty picture to be placed in a frame- she is thinking how it could be used differently and shaped within her installations. when I work, I want to develop it further in a similar fashion to really make use of all the potential outcomes.
Just like in my final piece where I combined all the different techniques to for wall hangings that would compliment each other, Crystal Wager also combines different techniques together to form her work.
